Prohibited items and posting rules

What you can post

CraneBoard has four sections: housing, jobs, for sale, and services. Read the community guidelines for how to behave on the board. The terms explain badges and the license you give us to display a listing.

No personals or adult category

CraneBoard does not have a personals category or an adult category. Dating, escort, hookup, and pornography listings are not allowed in any section. Use Report on the listing and choose Personals or adult content.

Do not post

Stolen goods, counterfeit goods, fake identification, social security numbers, credit-card dumps, or other people's identity data.

Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia sold for illegal use, and prescription drugs sold without a license.

Recalled goods you know are unsafe, animals for fighting, and offers that require a gift card, wire, or deposit before the other person can see the thing.

Jobs that are a request for money up front, housing that is a bait listing, and anything you are not allowed to sell.

Firearms and weapons

CraneBoard does not allow firearm listings. This applies to every seller, in every city, even when the sale would be legal. Not allowed: guns of any kind including handguns, rifles and shotguns; gun parts such as receivers and frames, and kits to build a gun at home; parts that make a gun fire automatically; suppressors; ammunition, whether sold alone or with a gun; explosives and fireworks that are made to explode.

Allowed, but may be checked by our review team before they go live: knives including kitchen and hunting knives; airsoft, BB and pellet guns clearly described as such, where legal, adults only; pepper spray, where legal, adults only; holsters, cases, cleaning kits and scopes sold without a gun.

Do not try to get around this rule with code words or photos. Listings that break it are removed, and the poster account can be suspended or closed. If you see a listing that offers a firearm, use the Report button on the listing.

What happens

Moderation can reject a listing before checkout. A report from a reader goes to the moderation queue. Repeat prohibited posts can close the account. Reporting someone is not a substitute for calling the police when a crime is in progress.
