Renting from the Los Angeles board
How to read a Los Angeles housing post, with the FTC checks and the LAPD exchange page.
CraneBoard Team · · Housing
The Los Angeles board is the city column for housing, jobs, for sale, and services. This note is about housing. It does not restate Los Angeles rent rules. Those live on city and county sites. Use those sites for a legal question. Use this page to avoid a fake ad.
Read the ad like the FTC suggests
The FTC's rental listing scams page says scammers copy real photos and swap the contact, or invent a place and rush a payment. Search the address. Compare the owner with a second source. See the unit before you pay. Do not send a wire, a gift card, or cryptocurrency because someone said it was the only way to hold the keys.
A CraneBoard badge means the account passed email and phone, or a Stripe Identity document and selfie check. It does not mean the building is vacant. What the ID verified badge means is the short version.
If you are buying something used in the same city
The LAPD newsroom page E-Commerce Exchange Zones lists station lobbies for in-person exchanges and the limits on that page, including lobby only. Read it and confirm with the station. More meetup notes are in Where to meet when you buy used.
If you have a place you are allowed to offer, post a listing on the Los Angeles board and describe the unit you actually have.
