How CraneBoard works
How CraneBoard verification works
Email and phone are a step. Posting waits for a Stripe Identity verified result. The blog stays free.
CraneBoard Team · · How CraneBoard works
You can read every city board and every article on this blog without an account. Nothing on the blog is billed. An account matters when you want to post.
Email and phone
CraneBoard can send a one-time code to the email on the account and a one-time code to a phone number. Confirming both shows the badge "Email and phone confirmed." That badge means those two channels answered. It does not mean we looked at an ID. It does not unlock posting.
The codes are checked and then discarded. The privacy notice says the stored code is a hash.
Stripe Identity
Posting uses Stripe Identity. Before the session starts, the verify screen asks you to consent. The check is a photo of a government ID and a selfie that has to match. Stripe hosts that step in its own window. CraneBoard does not receive the images, the document number, or a date of birth. It stores the status and the session id.
You are not marked verified because the window closed. The account can post, and the badge can say ID verified, only after Stripe sends the event identity.verification_session.verified. A sandbox session does not use those words.
You can refuse the check and keep reading. You cannot post until a verified result is on the account. Details are in the privacy notice and on what the badge means.
What to do next
Open verify when you are ready. Then pick a board. Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and the Inland Empire are on the front page. When the check is done, post a listing.
