How CraneBoard works
How to write a listing that gets a reply
Plain fields that help a neighbor decide, without invented success rates.
CraneBoard Team · · How CraneBoard works
A listing is a note to one person who might want the thing. It is not a slogan. CraneBoard gives you a city, a section, a title, a description, and a price when the offer has one. Use them.
Say the concrete facts
Name the city you will actually meet in. If the couch is in Houston, do not file it on the Denver board. Neighbors open Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Denver because they expect the offer to be there.
Pick one section. Housing is a place to live. Jobs is work. For sale is an item. Services is help you will perform. A post in the wrong section is easy to miss and easy to report.
Write a title a person can scan. "Two-bedroom near Charleston, available June 1" tells more than "Amazing deal." Describe what is included, what is worn, and when you can meet. If you do not know a fact, leave it out. Do not guess a square footage or a model year.
Use photos you took or photos you have permission to use. The terms say you must have the right to post the material. A copied photo is how rental scams get their pictures. The FTC explains that pattern on its rental listing scams page.
Money
If you are selling an item, name the price you will accept or say you want offers. Do not ask for a wire, a gift card, or cryptocurrency as the only way to pay before the other person has seen the item. Meet in public. The meetup guide lists police spots we could verify.
If you are hiring, do not charge the applicant a fee to be considered. The FTC says honest employers, including the federal government, will never ask you to pay to get a job. That page is Job scams. Read Hiring locally without spam before you post work.
The fee CraneBoard charges to publish a listing is separate from the price in your ad. The amount and the refund rules are on the refunds page. This article is free.
After you post
Answer on the listing. If the offer is gone, take the post down so the next person does not make a trip. If you see someone else's ad using your photos, use Report and, for a copyright complaint, the DMCA page.
When the copy is ready, post a listing.
