How to report a listing
What the Report button does, and when to call the police instead.
CraneBoard Team · · Safety
Every listing has a Report button. Use it when the post breaks the posting rules or the community guidelines. Dating and adult ads are not a category here. Choose Personals or adult content if that is what the post is.
A report goes to moderators. It is not published as a reply under the ad. Moderators can reject or remove a listing. They cannot mark one paid. The terms say that in the takedown section.
What a report is not
A report does not call 911. If a crime is in progress, call the police. If you lost money to a rental or job scam, the FTC takes reports at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The rental patterns are on the FTC's rental listing scams page. The job patterns are on its job scams page.
Copyright is a separate path. A photo that is yours, used without permission, can be a DMCA notice sent to dmca@thecraneboard.com. An ordinary "this looks fake" note can stay on the Report button.
Where to look
San Diego posts are on the San Diego board. Denver posts are on the Denver board. The same button is on every city. Reading those boards, and this article, is free. Post a listing only when you have something that follows the rules.
